Who can I help?
I support creative practitioners of all kinds, including musicians, writers, performers, designers and more.
My background is in visual arts and film and I have specialist expertise which can support people working in these fields.
You might be an established professional, a new artist or recent graduate, negotiating a career change, or shifting a side hustle into a full-time creative career. I can help people at all levels, and will meet you just where you are.
How does it work?
How we work together is flexible around what you need: we can meet regularly or for a one-off session. Regular hour long or half-hour long meetings can support you through a residency or particular project, or check in on your progress and keep you on track. A two hour deep-dive into your practice makes a thorough session with lasting impact.
What others are saying
At a period of change and when my job was overwhelming Alys helped me to focus on my research and practice and see with greater clarity what to prioritise and what to drop. Alys is extremely knowledgeable in terms of funding application processes, the greater context of the arts and cultural industries and how to apply work in different contexts. What I was amazed by was Alys’ ability to intuitively tap into the essence of me and make helpful suggestions that I had not thought of.
– Susanna Edwards, graphic designer.
I just want to thank you wholeheartedly for your help yesterday and for offering your tremendous expertise. It has totally clarified in my mind what the heck I need to do and it is actually an enormous relief. I feel so much more relaxed. What you do is so valuable. I wish every creative who is struggling could have two hours with you to sort out their direction!
– Polly Zanardi, painter
It did not take long for Alys to get a thorough understanding of the needs I have as a disabled artist. She has a natural ability when presenting to audiences, and was my choice for hosting a panel discussion on my work.
I found Alys’ observations and analysis of my work to be very intuitive with intelligent outcomes. She has quickness, flexibility, thoughtfulness, and instinct that enables her to make the right decisions when considering artists’ careers and the right way forward.
– James Paddock, visual artist
I have just hit send on my funding application. Thank you SO much for your help and support with it. I am really happy with it now. Whatever the outcome, the process has been really useful.
– Anna Durance, musician
As an ADHD writer, Alys was fantastic at talking me through the application process, supporting me when it came to the different aspects of the project that we felt we needed to cover and putting the information together. I felt comfortable asking questions and discussing my work and why it matters to me, particularly as I’d be writing about quite complex and emotionally taxing subjects.
– Tara, writer
Just THANK YOU so much, you really have no idea how much this morning helped.
– Maria Bell, photographer
How much is it?
I charge a standard hourly rate which can be used in hour or half hour blocks, either meeting online or face-to-face, or working by email, or a mixture of the two!
£50 per hour
